#30 The Cambridge - Sandy's synopsis

This review is not as dim as the pictures I have posted with it. The Cambridge is a great gastro-pub (I think that is the right term). It reminded me alot of Pub and Kitchen which is a few blocks away. The pictures are so dim because The Cambridge has, what I like to call ineffectual mood lighting. They're trying to set a mood but they're really just making it hard for me to read their menu.

Once I did read the menu after several attempts of leaning out of my stool to get the right angle for the best light - it seemed very delicious. I'm a sucker for grilled octopus...haha...see what I did there... sucker for octupus.... I crack myself up.  Anyway, I had to order the grilled octopus to start and I was not disappointed.

The Cambridge has a great selection of beer and cocktails. I decided to go the cocktail route and started with the "Mainline Affair". This cocktail has everything I enjoy - Gin, St. Germain, lime, white wine but with one catch - the gin was infused with hibiscus. Damn. I however always order the hibiscus cocktail with the hopes that this will be the time I like it. Well, this wasn't the case - not at the fault of the bar. It was definitely a good cocktail if you like hibiscus. I have since then accepted my fate as a hibiscus hater.

For dinner I decided to go with the Porker Burger because pork.

Sorry, I'm joking. I have a picture with the flash on - but that's how dark it was.

It was a good burger. I don't remember too much more about it because by then I had moved onto my second cocktail - the fig sidecar (I was a bit of a light weight that night clearly). It had a tad too much lemon in it, but was still very good.

All in all not too shabby, The Cambridge has good cocktails and good food. This block hasn't disappointed yet.

See how happy we are?
