Reader, our one reader, we are united again, a year after we finished our epic South Street food journey. The moon was one shade away from a super moon and South Street felt the same. However, so much had changed. There are so many new places that have taken over the old over the past year. Like the "Coins" shop for example, in the photo above.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was difficult to pick just one place to go for our anniversary, and therefore, dear reader, we didn't. We picked three - Red Poke Express, Smoke's Poutinerie AND "Honey Love Juice". Yes, Honey Love Juice. Which we REALLY, REALLY, really wanted to be a new juice/smoothie place. A rival to the ridiculous Sip 'N Glo, right across the street. Who can make the bigger false claim about their juice?? But alas, it was not to be, as Honey Love Juice is not a real place (curse you Google Maps). So instead, we went to the very cozy La Bella Dolce Italia. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Lets start with the Red Poke Express - formerly the OCF coffee house, formerly a frozen yoghurt place. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbhjHeq7X5h2gep_TVul-HEA-w63XwNMdKLz9DwPZXoTERZ9lu7PB4alAueO8AH42MjyCWMcNw7I5COAcwTD_wRIl9xB6PrNglnesMFUSAise5NpGKfj075tT4nK1NRWoL3Vmj45lNxm4/s1600/IMG_20171204_181918.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1242" data-original-width="1600" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbhjHeq7X5h2gep_TVul-HEA-w63XwNMdKLz9DwPZXoTERZ9lu7PB4alAueO8AH42MjyCWMcNw7I5COAcwTD_wRIl9xB6PrNglnesMFUSAise5NpGKfj075tT4nK1NRWoL3Vmj45lNxm4/s320/IMG_20171204_181918.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The overall layout of the place hasn't changed, just the food being served. I am a fan of the latest iteration. Now, let me be clear, poke in Hawaii is better and has a lot more variety and creativity. Da Poke Shack, in Kailua-Kona, is fantastic if you are in the area. However, does raw fish with edamame, avocado a soy-sauce based...sauce and other fresh veggies taste good? </div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcc8DuJXdC_x3zyO0BX5lsVRZTGC-rcT8zqMdI_TV0_-iUq8r5t5gh3rp01hyphenhyphenf24_03wku8QohZ5JY2rge9WTsWIFquKA3oflYbJBeX4B_utsAGsHrwoPeHRMBS0IiERCEQ9kxa1arbl4/s1600/IMG_20171204_183135.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcc8DuJXdC_x3zyO0BX5lsVRZTGC-rcT8zqMdI_TV0_-iUq8r5t5gh3rp01hyphenhyphenf24_03wku8QohZ5JY2rge9WTsWIFquKA3oflYbJBeX4B_utsAGsHrwoPeHRMBS0IiERCEQ9kxa1arbl4/s320/IMG_20171204_183135.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hell yes. The flavours just work and is a great affordable option for a healthy dinner in this area. (We ordered the "Red Poke Bowl"). I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that Red Poke Express sells sushi burritos. I love burritos (content and concept). I love raw fish. I love that you can marry those two things together. So overall, this place is a win. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We continued our anniversary food tour by visiting a makeshift Canada - otherwise known as Smoke's Poutinerie.</div>

As with the poke, let me preface this with, I remember the poutine in Canada to be better. However, I should preface THAT with it was 3 am in the morning and I was most definitely drunk. Ergo, I do not think the experiences are comparable. Honestly though, can you really go wrong with french fries topped with gravy (and a Sammy for company)? </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk5ep3JlxevaB87uibkITeyLk-GShqhPkZqyabKnUyL2N1XvITNuOCGWUICz5c_g7o8F8aRlc6GlEsutQkAkfqr_fxkVa3R9cvBeBdEYm9oMNo3nUDQXcsSh2Do7-ug-rAk2ix1oP1u7s/s1600/IMG_20171204_190339.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk5ep3JlxevaB87uibkITeyLk-GShqhPkZqyabKnUyL2N1XvITNuOCGWUICz5c_g7o8F8aRlc6GlEsutQkAkfqr_fxkVa3R9cvBeBdEYm9oMNo3nUDQXcsSh2Do7-ug-rAk2ix1oP1u7s/s320/IMG_20171204_190339.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hell no. We ordered the traditional poutine, your plain gravy with cheese curds and fries which was delicious. There are also many different gravies yet to be tasted. I am especially intrigued by the butter chicken poutine, the Korean poutine, and the prime beef/veggie deluxe poutine. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Finally, to our last impromptu place that replaced Honey Love Juice - La Bella Dolce Italia. Its a cute little Italian cafe that replaced the longstanding Evil Eye Cafe (RIP). We figured we could do dessert here as we saw hot chocolate on the menu. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The hot chocolate was....very rich...but good. I would've probably preferred it in a smaller size. The whipped cream on the top was heavenly! What I did find out while we were there was that the cafe makes bombolones. These are scrumptious italian donut-like pastries. They were out of them that day, but I would LOVE to come back to try them another time. The cafe also has coffee, smoothies, and other Italian pastries and food that I would also like to try sometime. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So overall, our anniversary reunion was awesome. It was great being back on the blog trail with Sammy and re-connecting with you...our one reader. Until the next time...</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well well well... do we have a surprise for you! One year ago today (SD = 1 day) we completed our saunter down South Street, and as I opened Blogger to write this post, I realized I have a completely unfinished post on my feelingz about the end and that's about it. So basically, we haven't written much in the past year, even though we did make a stop at Bahn Mi and Bottles with the intent of a new update to appease the masses. But, as some of you may or may not know, our partnership has continued as I have been using my expert driving abilities to teach Sandya how to drive and park a car. I am happy to report that Sandya has not crashed my car and will be taking her driving test relatively soon. But I digress. During one of our lessons, I floated the idea of hitting up a restaurant or two to celebrate our 1-year anniversary, and thus today's reviews were born.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The former Bridget Foy's</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So here we are again, back in familiar territory. I miss our blog, and seeing as we are now at stop #99, we will certainly have to go to at least one more restaurant to hit #100. And walking along South Street, a lot has changed. Red Poke Express is where OCF Coffeehouse was once located. Bridget Foy's was destroyed in a devastating fire. Many restaurants we visited have changed, and many new ones have popped up. And this is just in the Front to ~8th Street span. South Street truly is a reflection of the ever-changing tastes of Philadelphia. But I digress again.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Back at it!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
We decided to go to as many new places as possible in one go, so we split one poke bowl and one order of poutine. First stop, Red Poke Express. Poke, in my mind, is a relatively new food fad in the city and is described as a raw fish salad hailing from Hawaii. As a fan of sushi and ceviche, I had a feeling I would enjoy this. We ordered the Red Poke bowl, which consisted of tuna, red onion, seaweed, edamame, avocado, green onion, sesame seeds, and shoyu sauce. An excellent choice - all around nice consistency and a great umami flavor. That's right, I used a fancy food term. This blog has really matured in its time off. After commenting that we sat at the exact same table we did when the building was OCF Coffeehouse, we sauntered on over to Smoke's Poutinerie, which also seems to be a new food fad in the city. We are just trying to stay hip and current with the times, guys.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Fun fact: I used to live in Canada!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
A few weeks ago I walked by this place, very late at night, on a quest for the one and only slice from Lorenzo's, and I considered going in to get some fries smothered in gravy and cheese curds. I ended up continuing down the street for what I set out for, but if I had gone in, I wouldn't have been disappointed. Poutine is the perfect drunk person food, full of salty delicious carbs and cheese (not unlike pizza). We ordered the classic poutine, and it was exactly that - salty, delicious carbs smothered in cheese curds. There were several additional options to choose from in case you want to be a bit more adventurous, but sometimes you can't pass up good ol' gravy and cheese curds on fries. I think my only complaint would be that it was a little too salty. And this is coming from the person who claims popcorn is her favorite food, mainly because it's a vehicle for salt. So it's a lot. But I think that's why it's doubly good as a drunk food - it's got electrolytes (what plants crave!). I also very much enjoyed the decor of this place, decidedly very Canadian and with lots of phrases and images to make you giggle.<br />

This takes us to La Bella Dolce Italia. But, before we get there, let me tell you about the mysterious Honey Love Juice that appeared on our map. When Sandya and I were trying to decide where to go, she did a quick search of South Street in Google Maps to look up new places. Honey Love Juice popped up and we both immediately honed in on it, because how can you not go to a place called Honey Love Juice. Turns out Honey Love Juice is (not surprisingly) non-existent. It supposedly exists at the corner of where Supper used to be, but I don't think it's a "coming soon" location either. I think someone confused it with Sip-N-Glo, probably my least favorite stop on our entire saunter behind DELIcious Bites (fuck you and your mile high prosciutto sandwich DELIcious Bites. And fuck you Sip-N-Glo with your terrible overpriced health drinks and pseudo-science BS).<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dat moon tho</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Not deterred by this, we took a nice stroll in the brilliant moonlight to La Bella Dolce Italia. It was closing in about 30 min, but we still were able to grab an Italian (see: extra thick and sweet) hot chocolate with whipped cream and sit and contemplate why there's a store just called COINS on South Street. This used to be Evil Eye Cafe, so yet another turnover in our time since visiting. The barista was very friendly and nice and didn't make us feel unwelcome even though she was getting ready to close up. The hot chocolate was decadent but too sweet, even for the girl who eats ice cream for breakfast sometimes. It must have been a day of extremes for me.<br />
<br />
In any case, all three locations are nice additions to the more touristy end of South Street, providing niche (poke and poutine are pretty eclectic food choices) and essential (small coffee shop to stop into for a quick bite or a hot beverage) spots for those doing their own sauntering down South Street.<br />

I don't think Paddy Whacks is a bar I would go into if it wasn't for the blog. It looked like your run-of-the-mill Irish pub, like New Deck. The reason we picked this rather hum-drum place for our last night on the blog was because it had a lot of space. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sam and I got there around 5:30 pm on that Friday and the place was pretty empty with a lot of free tables. We got a nice big booth and ordered some beer and appetizers while we waited for people to arrive. We ordered the appetizer sampler that contained your regular fried items - mozzarella sticks, wings, onion rings and potato skins. They surprisingly also had cheese curds from the cow and the curd on their menu. We ordered that as well because...how could you not.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cheese curds</td></tr>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The cheese curds were undoubtedly awesome and the other appetizers were solid Irish pub fare - greasy and delicious. The onion rings and mozzarella sticks were my favorite. The potato skins were a little hard to eat.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Their beer selection was surprisingly decent with the inclusion of mad elf on tap. Which they served in pint glasses for part of the night. Suffice to say, they were lushing us up quite well for our final destination - South Street Diner. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All in all, Paddy Whacks came through on both counts - it was indeed just another Irish bar but it suited our party very well because of the space and Mad Elf pints. </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Which brings us to the last spot for our blog. Number 96. The appropriately named South Street Diner. As I was hoping it would be, this place was the perfect end to a drunken night with some standard but fantastic diner food. I ordered the eggs (sunny-side up) with sausage and hash-browns accompanied by a vanilla milkshake. </div>

The eggs and hash-browns really hit the spot. The sausage, not so much. It was a link not a patty and I prefer patties. The milkshake was a little thinner than I like but still very yummy. Those eggs and hash-browns tho - just perfect. </div>

Well, this is it. We've come to the end. I'm going to try and save most of my feelings for a separate, reflection post (because god knows I love ruminating on my feelings) and try and stick to the standards here, but this was a momentous occasion. 4 years and 96 restaurants later, what started out as a somewhat silly idea turned into something that will define my years spent in Philadelphia. Anyways, before this devolves too far, let me get to the reviews...</div>

Sandya and I chose Paddy Whacks as one of our final stops because it is a large bar with a lot of room for people to come and celebrate with us. This was immediately evident when I walked in, as the downstairs was spacious with many booths and tables. Sandya had grabbed a booth and adjoining table in the far left corner downstairs, so we were set for space. We settled in, and people slowly started trickling in. There was a solid beer selection - nothing too fancy, but lots of local brews to choose from, which I have noticed is a theme for this section of South Street. And to follow our rule of eating something at every stop, we ordered an appetizer platter with onion rings, chicken fingers, wings, mozzarella sticks, and potato skins. Overall I thought it was a solid selection of finger food. Nothing was overly greasy or fried to the point that it made your stomach churn. Definitely a good selection of appetizers if you're craving that kind of food. </div>

As more and more people stopped by, I felt like the service was still very good and the waitstaff were friendly. There was some kind of holiday party going on adjacent to us, but it didn't really interfere with the celebrations (re: very spacious). And the best part? I ordered a Troegs Mad Elf (a local legend that is 11%) served in a pint glass. This is not a normal occurrence, and we're still not really sure why they served it to us in a pint glass, but I'll chalk it up to the South Street gods. Needless to say, things were getting very silly. At some point I took a shot of tequila. We had wanted to head next door at 11 pm, but we were having such a great time that I don't think we left until around midnight. Which means the night was already a success, and I want to thank everyone that made it out to celebrate with us.</div>

And then, in a drunken haze, we made our way next door. A special thanks to Erin, Chris, Shaun, and Mike, who all made it to the bitter end with us. And an even bigger thanks to South Street Diner, whose greasy diner food saved me from a terrible hangover the next day. We (or at least I) stumbled into the diner, hungry (and under the influence, obviously). Luckily it wasn't too busy, and we were seated and taken care of in a very efficient manner. I ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream, and an omelette with home fries and toast. Everything hit the spot and tasted great. I can't say how much this would change if I were sober, but it's hard to fuck up diner food. Even terrible diner food is still good, because you're eating it at a diner. And this was an all-night diner to boot (the sign said triple X but they were talkin' 'bout root beer...). And what better way to end our adventure than a place with South Street in the name. So I can't think of a better way to end our blog, eating greasy diner food with friends after a night of celebrating with so many of the people I've come to know and love in Philadelphia.</div>

And so here we are, the last post before the end. Where has the time gone? It's been a wild ride, that's for sure. But I'll save my nostalgia and feelz for the final, final post. For now, here's my review of <br />
Tamarind.<br />
<br />
I have to say, of all the Thai restaurants we've eaten at, I think Tamarind is the best. Save the best for last, right? Sorry, I only have so many more opportunities to litter my writing with terrible clichés, so gotta take advantage of it. I arrived early (because it's me), and grabbed a table for 6. It's a smaller restaurant, but luckily the larger table was open table to accommodate us. I perused the menu (which had some pretty cute titles for food sections) while waiting for Sandya and co. to arrive from Science on Tap up the street. Luckily Matthew showed up a few minutes after me and we chatted for a bit until the whole gang arrived.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">fish cakes</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Tamarind is BYOB, so Sandya stopped by her place to bring us all back some beverages, which was much appreciated. For appetizers, we went with fish cakes, crispy angels (chicken and shredded cabbage in a fried wonton shell), and fried taro. The fishcakes were very flavorful but a little rubbery. I still really enjoyed them though. The crispy angels were also very nice, but a bit too much fried wonton and not much filling. I would have appreciated a little more substance, but I still liked them. The fried taro was good, but my least favorite of the appetizers. What is taro? It's a root vegetable, in case you didn't know. I vaguely knew that, but it isn't something I eat very often. I'm not a big fan of the flavor, which I can't accurately describe because I don't know how to pinpoint it. I've really learned a lot about writing about food these past 4 years, huh?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2caZYdoNGDin0unK72gpQnGeSAng1Kj56K88ZuDqiBLxL8c_5PxdQq2-LQj-bsALb7Az2lNMf_TX4HtTgfjWNjBb-nXOZgsCMJ2qbpXEADFsyBlR_Bm_oScABESniRqY1DauuoWCpImQ/s1600/IMG_8187.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2caZYdoNGDin0unK72gpQnGeSAng1Kj56K88ZuDqiBLxL8c_5PxdQq2-LQj-bsALb7Az2lNMf_TX4HtTgfjWNjBb-nXOZgsCMJ2qbpXEADFsyBlR_Bm_oScABESniRqY1DauuoWCpImQ/s200/IMG_8187.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
I went with chicken panang curry as my main course. It was sweet and savory and creamy all of those good things. There was a nice mix of vegetables and a proper amount of rice to get a good sauce-to-rice ratio. I had some leftovers that soaked up the flavor of the sauce very nicely, making for a good lunch the next day. Matthew got the highest level spice pad thai, which was a source of entertainment for everyone at the table. If you want real spicy, this is your place. I had to jet out a little early, so I don't know if dessert was acquired, but I would certainly have liked to try a Thai iced tea, assuming it was on the menu (I didn't see it but I also didn't see a drinks section). The food was great though, so all the more reason to go back and find out.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Qg-PRywxblSk0degBhT6941bbWBn6UQDax6zaxXP4Tcc48-H7S-VoYVbT_RlzV6aBiEM3zUEBQlEoJV8k2T0rUkQ9N9PIUSTefbW4qynblZUmcWAfAV_ISBHgyqZ3eoAhMDYgw8RvTU/s1600/tamarind.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Qg-PRywxblSk0degBhT6941bbWBn6UQDax6zaxXP4Tcc48-H7S-VoYVbT_RlzV6aBiEM3zUEBQlEoJV8k2T0rUkQ9N9PIUSTefbW4qynblZUmcWAfAV_ISBHgyqZ3eoAhMDYgw8RvTU/s1600/tamarind.png" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have history with Tamarind. Back in my young days, where pride ruled over common sense, I came here and ordered take out for lunch. I asked for it to be thai-hot and they warned me - they said it was going to be very, very hot and asked if I was sure. And I said to them, "Yes I'm sure" while thinking to myself, "I'm Indian. I know what hot means, psssshh". </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was a stupid idiot. They were not kidding, it was very very hot, I did not know what hot meant and I was schooled that day. I was so stubborn and proud that I ate the entire dish and then kissed my partner and it burned her lips. She felt that burn. And then my butt felt that burn for the next two days. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is definitely not to discourage you from coming. Their food is very, very good. This is to warn you that they mean real business with their spice. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Suffice to say I ordered everything at their normal spice level this time.<br />
<br />
As per the norm, we ordered some appetizers for the table - fried taro, fish cakes and something called crispy angel.</div>
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Crispy angel</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These appetizers were simply amazing. These were the highlight of my evening (besides the company ofcourse. And watching my friend eat Thai-spicy food. That was fun too). I will eventually tell you what I had for my main course, but really, relish these appetizers if you go here. The fish cakes were my favourite, but the fried taro was awesome and the crispy angel (fried wonton) coming a close third.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For my main course I got the noodles with tamarind sauce and shrimp.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was okay - a little too sweet for me personally. Not terrible though and I would go back to eat more fish cakes and perhaps try one of the other noodles or curries.<br />
<br />
In conclusion, please go to Tamarind and order some fish cakes and fried taro but do not order it thai-hot unless you are serious about spice. </div>

Pietro's has always been this trusty choice, the Italian you can fall back on. Its got a large space, very affordable for the amount of food you get and always a satisfying meal (with some very stereotypical Italian music in the background, for ambiance I suppose). </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

I can safely say everything we ordered that night was awesome. We started with a bottle of wine for the three of us, which is a great, financially sensible option in Pietro's. </div>

The sauce was perfectly creamy with mushrooms, cheese, peas and crispy prosciutto. The portions are so generous, that even after I had eaten to my utmost fullest, I had leftovers. You would think that would signal the end of dinner, but we didn't stop there. We decided to get one dessert, that we shared. How else do you end an awesome Italian meal, but with some Tiramisu.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Pietro's is a pretty solid establishment in Philly - there's more than one location and the few times I've been to one of their locales I've always been satisfied. So I went into this outing hoping for a good meal with good friends, and I wasn't disappointed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlW2CvgX9xn7188dCTFs_wsQ8IFIaJ4EnaMUKGow0WQAxH7mxh-iOdbFyvQDFhtuKn-kkQ0h_J5tzTSlV-sZoGUCQFqMp58BIqXzUMPRV8mlAKmocyUA_LeQEsQsBylMtwjleIhWX3HNA/s1600/IMG_6732.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlW2CvgX9xn7188dCTFs_wsQ8IFIaJ4EnaMUKGow0WQAxH7mxh-iOdbFyvQDFhtuKn-kkQ0h_J5tzTSlV-sZoGUCQFqMp58BIqXzUMPRV8mlAKmocyUA_LeQEsQsBylMtwjleIhWX3HNA/s200/IMG_6732.JPG" width="150" /></a>Erin and I caught the bus and arrived around 7:30 pm... before Sandya, of course, even though she lives 2 blocks away. We had a slightly awkward interaction with the hostess and then we were seated in the bar area. It was pretty dead for a Thursday night, as I think there were maybe 2 other tables and a handful of people at the bar. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp3ge7PUyCSGhqle-4Lgo3VtYjnCtBC2znHkzmD0GeUOne7ixQxrnLG2tgqBH-EX-DWFBPHkgL7g3O2lNq0Wyom-x5fmpvhfuhFh2KssR0YXsOXqTPNZh92KryQGCPK8DJfEosNvon8S0/s1600/IMG_6734.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp3ge7PUyCSGhqle-4Lgo3VtYjnCtBC2znHkzmD0GeUOne7ixQxrnLG2tgqBH-EX-DWFBPHkgL7g3O2lNq0Wyom-x5fmpvhfuhFh2KssR0YXsOXqTPNZh92KryQGCPK8DJfEosNvon8S0/s200/IMG_6734.JPG" width="150" /></a>As we waited for Sandya, Erin and I ordered drinks and then realized when Sandya arrived that maybe we should have waited so we could order a bottle of wine. But no matter, as we ordered a bottle of wine anyways (sadly, or maybe responsibly, there was no double-fisting for me as I decided to finish my sangria before moving onto the wine). We also decided on the risotto balls and brussell sprouts for appetizers, to accompany the free bread and olive oil we received. A minor side rant, that maybe I've expressed in a previous entry over these past 4 years, is I really hate it when sit down restaurants don't give you some kind of item to nibble on while you peruse the menu and order. Maybe my expectations are too high, or I'm asking too much, but can you at least give us something to eat while we wait? Even if it's oyster crackers or saltines? So needless to say, I was happy with our bread, which was warm and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The risotto balls there are delicious - deep fried on the outside and creamy and salty on the inside. The brussell sprouts were fine too, they had some prosciutto pieces which were nice, but I found the balsamic glaze/sauce a bit too astringent for my liking.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsZk0vBu8SYZT9EPF6tUPQiXemhwnClwoF5s-SvuZf0wtdML7X53bkrAdxhhSNWWxy0gn4naFWJrg8R7qv87wg4V8HGE4j21qrNv59OxIg5WtFLaGGO64Io-LcEbNgYOtWgb5CwluTLlM/s1600/IMG_6735.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsZk0vBu8SYZT9EPF6tUPQiXemhwnClwoF5s-SvuZf0wtdML7X53bkrAdxhhSNWWxy0gn4naFWJrg8R7qv87wg4V8HGE4j21qrNv59OxIg5WtFLaGGO64Io-LcEbNgYOtWgb5CwluTLlM/s200/IMG_6735.JPG" width="150" /></a>For the main dish, I went with gemelli arugula pollo, which is described as chicken breast, garlic, arugula, and grape tomatoes in a white wine sauce. It was a good dish, although I felt like I couldn't really taste any garlic, and the flavors could have been better defined. I will say that I had a lot of leftovers (I guess the downside of free bread is that you always fill up too early...), and the dish was actually better the next day, because everything had time to soak in the sauce, and THEN the flavors were better defined. I was still pleased with my choice, and it was a good meal.<br />
<br />
By the time we had finished eating, we still had some wine left, so of course we ordered dessert. The three of us split the tiramisu, which was simply to die for - one of the better pieces of tiramisu I've had in a long time. All in all, Pietro's is a great Philly establishment where you can get reliable meals.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Las Bugambilias (The bougainvilleas), conjures up for me an image of nostalgia. These flowers are native to more warmer climates and they definitely give me a warm fuzzy as they are common where I grew up in India. It was therefore quite perfect that we had some amazing warm weather that day, that enabled us to sit at a table outside. I am happy to note that the staff were very accommodating about it, even though we were a bigger group of 6 people. In hindsight, if you are a large group, it is easier to sit indoors.<br />
<br />
The restaurant was definitely embracing the season/halloween as our servers and hosts were in costume and Mr. Tree-Trunk-Laughy-Face accompanied us for our meal. He was pleasant enough, but I always got the feeling like he was planning something sinister - might've been his laugh.</div>

Las bugambilias serves an array of traditional mexican dishes and there menu is very extensive so take your time to peruse. Additionally, on Sundays they do a brunch buffet that got some great reviews from the other diners in the restaurant.<br />
<br />
We decided to start of our lunch/brunch with drinks and I couldn't resist ordering their classic margarita.<br />

Besides the gorgeous presentation, the margarita itself was fantastic. Speaking of the presentation, the dining ware, tables, chairs, almost everything at this restaurant is beautiful.</div>

As we sipped our drinks and enjoyed the weather, I managed to make a decision on what to order. I have for a long time wanted to try "cochinita pibil", which is a slow cooked pork dish. </div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cochinita Pibil</td></tr>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really wanted to like this dish and truth be told I loved most of it. The beans, plantains and rice were delicious! I however found the pork itself to be a little under salted and lacking flavour. If I did combine the pork with everything else (which is probably what I am probably supposed to do), it was good. I was still a little disappointed. However almost everyone else at the table really liked their meals. Therefore, this will not deter me from wanting to try more things on their menu another time.</div>

It was an unseasonably warm day-before-Halloween when we made our trip to Las Bugambilias, so we made the wise decision to sit outside and enjoy the weather and people-watching. What we did not expect was to make a friend with our sometimes inanimate neighbor, who we lovingly named Mr. Trunk Laughy Face*. This little guy was a dancing, laughing, spooky tree that was triggered by a motion sensor. He managed to go off about once a minute, which we found especially amusing as we waited for the rest of our party to join. Luckily, we had a wonderful waitress decked out in beautiful Day of the Dead make-up who temporarily disabled him for us, although I did start to miss his spooky laugh later into our meal.<br />
*We had several other names for him, but we couldn't quite settle (or remember) all of them. This will have to stand as our substitute for now.</div>

I had heard many good things about Las Bugambilias, so I was excited to try it out. We had a nice collection of friends as McKenzie was in town for Halloween/birthday shenanigans with myself and Erin, Steph brought Pavlov, and Scott had requested all the way back at the beginning of our blog to join us on this spot. We squeezed around a circular table and proceeded to order drinks. I went with a hibiscus margarita. I was impressed with the volume-to-price ratio - it was a rather large glass, and it was tasty and strong to boot. I would come back here just for margaritas, and that's before even getting to the food.<br />

One of the downsides of this option was that any of the main dishes available at the buffet were not available for individual order. In my case, I really wanted chilaquiles, but that was a buffet offering so I could not order it individually. But in the end, why would I go with one dish when I could get a plethora of food offerings? So I went with the buffet. And it was a wise choice. Once everyone else's meals arrived, I went inside and piled my plate full of deliciousness.<br />

On the docket were those sought after chilaquiles (my best description is breakfast nachos - tortilla chips with salsa, fried egg, pulled chicken, and crema fresca), oat pancakes, scrambled eggs with veggies, potatoes, refried black beans and some Day of the Dead bread. Everything was delicious. The chilaquiles were exactly what I was craving - the salsa verde was refreshing and flavorful and the pulled chicken fell apart in your mouth. The pancakes had a nice sweetness to them that wasn't overwhelming, but good enough to eat without syrup (this is a big deal for me - I usually drench my pancakes in maple syrup). The scrambled eggs, beans and potatoes were equally good - nothing life-changing but certainly done with the right balance of flavors. Erin and I split a sugar-dusted Day of the Dead piece of bread - it was good if a little dry (but I am not sure if this common or not for this style of bread). I left feeling satisfied, and I know everyone else did too, as there were raves all around the table. I would definitely return here for not just margaritas, but for food as well.</div>

<br />
This is the second OCF coffee house on South Street, which is unexpected for a coffee house run by a realty. However if there is anything a realty does have, its building space?<br />
<br />
As surprised as I was the first time, the coffee here is actually pretty good and they have great small eats. There is nothing overly special about it but I would choose it over a Starbucks. I ordered a cappuccino and chocolate croissant and was not disappointed by either. So, if you are in this neighbourhood and need a coffee, you could go here. </div>

OCF is one of them, with at least 5 coffee shop locations in the city that I can think of off the top of my head. We already stopped at one way back on the <a href="http://2girls1street.blogspot.com/2013/09/16-ocf-coffee-house-sams-synopsis.html" target="_blank">18th block</a>. And now we come full circle and have a new one on the 2nd block. Sandya and I came here for a pre-work breakfast at 8 am (my, how times have changed!).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was a sunny fall morning, which was aptly noted through the expansive windows of the cafe. I really enjoyed the level of natural light coming in at this location (the one on 18th is pretty dark; however, the one at 30th and Chestnut may just be my favorite for this very reason. I spent many afternoons writing my thesis there...). It was surprisingly quiet for a workday morning, with only a few other customers coming in during our 45 minute conversation. Perhaps because this area of South Street isn't very close to the main business area of Philly, but who knows.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Per usual, I ordered a chai latte and settled in on a cheese croissant. Last time's perilous encounter with a hair baked into my bagel made me opt for a different choice. The chai was good - a nice amount of foamy milk on top and not too sweet. The cheese croissant was also delicious (from Kermit's, of course) - flaky and buttery and savory. It was a pleasant and calm start to the day - you can't ask for much more from a coffeeshop.</div>

Me N Mo advertises itself as a small family owned restaurant where everything is made from scratch. Where, presumably, a "Me", with a person called "Mo", run this little Italian restaurant. Well, after some deliberation, we figured that the "Me" referred to meatballs and the "Mo" referred to "more", as is spelled out below there logo. Its clever and I'm glad I didn't go in there asking if Mo was in. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Besides the cute name, I was very excited to go here because freshly made pasta is amazing (I was less excited about the meatballs) and Me N Mos did not disappoint in that regard.<br />
<br />
However, for starters, we ordered some of their signature meatballs and a buratta prosciutto salad.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
As I mentioned before, I am generally not the biggest fan of meatballs, and therefore not the best judge. So I will not judge and just say that they were well liked by the of the group. (There is only one meatball I have liked in my life, and that was at Little Nonna's).<br />
<br />
The freshly made pasta however was fantastic here at Me N Mos. There is a large selection to choose from and I picked the linguine con frutti di mare - a seafood linguine with calamari, shrimp, mussel and herbs in a white wine sauce.</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Linguini con frutti di mare</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was extremely delicious. The fresh pasta really takes everything up a notch with a perfect sauce and mostly great seafood (I was weirdly not a fan of the calamari).<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert but all in all, Me 'N Mos had proven that it is a great affordable place for some traditional Italian cuisine.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So take a bottle of wine and get some pasta and more! at Me 'N Mos. (What if it was called Pasta 'N More...Pa 'N Mos....That sounds less exciting and clever I suppose).</div>

I was a little early to arrive, so I went in and secured us a table. However, we went on the later side on a weeknight (around 8 pm), so there was only one other table there - a party of 3 (daughter + parents) celebrating the daughter's birthday. I awkwardly sang along to Happy Birthday at one point. The inside decor was rustic but not in your face about it, so I found it rather pleasant. A good ambiance for spending a relaxed evening with friends. I also realized, while staring at the menu, that Me 'N' Mo was short for Meatballs and More, and not a dude named Mo and his mysterious buddy. Side note: I suppose Mo could be a girl too, because we obviously all remember the Mo on the right there.<br />

Me 'N' Mo is BYOB, so we indulged in a bottle of red wine and decided the best strategy was to order a few different types of meatballs, an appetizer, and individual entrees for an ample sampling of food items. For meatballs, we went with the classic (beef + veal + pork) with vodka sauce and chicken with creamy mushroom sauce. While I don't eat beef or veal, I did still feel compelled to try one of the classic meatballs, and it was tasty. That's a pretty good compliment from someone who doesn't eat red meat mainly because she doesn't like the taste. It was flavorful and moist, and the accompanying sauce worked well. I also liked the chicken, and surprisingly the mushroom sauce wasn't too overwhelming (reminder: I don't like mushrooms), but it wasn't out of this world flavor-wise. The appetizer we ordered was a caprese salad with prosciutto and fresh peaches, drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. It was simply divine. The freshness of the tomatoes, basil, and peaches balanced well with the saltiness of the prosciutto and the sweet acidity of the balsamic vinaigrette. We also received quite a bit of bread throughout the meal. Above average for a restaurant, but not groundbreaking.</div>

My entree was named chicken saltimbocca (chicken that jumps into your mouth) which we proceeded to joke about for the remainder of the meal. It would be nice if my food would always just jump into my mouth - I might spill less food all over myself if this were the case. The dish was chicken topped with prosciutto and mozzarella, with a buttery sage sauce and a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. The dish was delicious - it didn't quite jump into my mouth, but mostly because I was already pretty full at that point. My only very minor complaint is that I wish the mozzarella had been melted more - it wasn't quite the level of ooey-gooey that I thought it should be for this dish. The sauce was great, not too buttery or oily and the right amount of sage. The potatoes were creamy and the veggies fresh. I was only able to eat about half and had the remainder for lunch the next day, where it was equally as delicious as the night before.<br />

Service was friendly if a bit curt near the end - they didn't really ask us if we wanted dessert, but it was also already just past closing time and we were all obviously pretty full at that point. This place is cash only, but the prices are reasonable, considering how many pricey Italian restaurants there are in Center City. I would definitely return here again, and recommend it to anyone looking to try out a new Italian restaurant in the city.<br />

His and Her's seems to be a place for the community to gather, shoot some pool, guzzle some cheap drinks and eat some affordable food. They have a daily happy hour where everything on the menu is half off, which is an impressive happy hour. They don't have any beer on tap but they do have some bottles of your standard domestic fare.<br />
<br />
We took advantage of the happy hour and ordered some appetizers - the turkish cheese rolls and the hummus.<br />

The hummus was alright and would've been better if it came with some pita or something. Anything. The cheese rolls were quite delightful.<br />
<br />
For dinner I just ordered the chicken fingers. They were alright as well, nothing too exciting. The honey-dijon sauce that comes with it was a little too sweet.<br />

Everything was pretty okay with the check being super cheap for all the food we ordered. If you're looking to save some money and want to play some pool and aren't picky about the food, this could be your place to hang out.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtQ2fLoC3rxxYPijsXlcGchaNB5zop9NCiH2Nqy3cAD5WoPudFE-u6X0f5DXDMBrc-GR4dW5yQq9rklaA8tSyGoxbzRtnoypEEvRKNdOqF8MIRYCqbsq_SNQ_UnDVdIIV3-szTVkR43Co/s1600/IMG_5392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtQ2fLoC3rxxYPijsXlcGchaNB5zop9NCiH2Nqy3cAD5WoPudFE-u6X0f5DXDMBrc-GR4dW5yQq9rklaA8tSyGoxbzRtnoypEEvRKNdOqF8MIRYCqbsq_SNQ_UnDVdIIV3-szTVkR43Co/s200/IMG_5392.JPG" width="150" /></a>Well, second time's the charm I guess. We made it to His & Hers when it was actually open, and it was quite obvious this time around. Before, the windows were closed and it was dark inside, but it was hard to tell if the place was actually open unless we peered in. Upon arriving, the doors and windows were wide open and everything inside was bright and shiny. So yeah, kind of a big difference.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I arrived 15 minutes late because yes, I was playing Pokemon Go on my walk over. But I was using a Lucky Egg to level up faster so give me a break, okay?! In any case, Sandya and Erin were inside and had already ordered a few appetizers and some lagers, so I followed suit on the beer front. Turns out happy hour is from 7-9 pm, which is already great because what a convenient time frame, but even better, everything is 50% off. All drinks, all food, everything. Which is pretty awesome. But I was pretty underwhelmed with the place, so I'm not sure how far that'll get me in the future in returning.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLTBfqi23D_A_Tk4Lrp1mk0kJJtyh9I_ZNuRfIVSzRgyhdBH6xjyYOgSO2OFfdWgTeErH3g4OsaO5pBdiCzTq6tNJ4N58T7yYNNr3Wrrh43PtWn-cSUdOpCYbPRfoR1ObpTX-9EKq52BM/s1600/IMG_5393.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLTBfqi23D_A_Tk4Lrp1mk0kJJtyh9I_ZNuRfIVSzRgyhdBH6xjyYOgSO2OFfdWgTeErH3g4OsaO5pBdiCzTq6tNJ4N58T7yYNNr3Wrrh43PtWn-cSUdOpCYbPRfoR1ObpTX-9EKq52BM/s200/IMG_5393.JPG" width="200" /></a>There was only one woman running the bar, although the owner/maybe a manager also seemed to be there. She was a little sporadic in attending to us, but I don't really fault her for that - but it still took some time to place orders. I've been all about chicken tenders lately, especially when I'm in a sports bar atmosphere, so that's what I ordered. The aforementioned appetizers were cheese rolls and hummus. Even though Sandya and Erin ordered before me, the appetizers didn't come until after I got my chicken tenders. That's a little weird. Oh well. The chicken tenders and fries were fine. They hit the spot and they weren't overly greasy - pretty standard. The appetizers were also okay. I liked the filling in the cheese rolls, but the roll part wasn't very flavorful. The hummus was also fine, but they didn't serve anything with it - just some decorative lettuce. How are you supposed to eat hummus without any accompanying pita or veggies?<br />
<br />
The happy hour is a great deal, so I'd take advantage of it in the future if it came up, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return to His & Hers.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Bridget Foy's,</i> Sounds so classy. Well, I felt classy sitting outside on their veranda sipping on mimosas, watching people walk by on south street. Brunch at Bridget Foy's is definitely a good deal. The pitcher of mimosas was perfect (on my wallet and for deliciousness) and they have some very good brunch options. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I tend to like savoury foods for breakfast so as appealing as some of the french toast options looked, I went with the shrimp and grits.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was a VERY solid choice with good flavour and a nice, crispy egg on top. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We also ordered some fries on the side (because what is brunch without potatoes of some kind). </div>
<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do not let the thickness of these fries fool you. I usually hate thick fries, but these were really good. </div>

All in all, its a great outdoor space with some reliably good food options. </div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">people watching at its finest</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
In true Sam and Sandy fashion, we arrived at our next stop - His & Hers - to find it closed. To be fair, the hours posted on their window, Yelp, and Google all claimed they were open, so this one wasn't really our fault. And I just read they were denied a permit to stay open during the DNC, so they aren't closed permanently. Alas, since many people expressed interest in Me 'N Mo's, we decided to enjoy some patio dining at Bridget Foy's.<br />
<br />
Being the middle of summer, it was incredibly hot, so sitting on the chairs was a little uncomfortable since I tend to sweat quite a bit, and my legs were slipping and sliding all over the place. Such is life. The people watching was great though, as was the Pokemon catching. The highlight for me was watching a dude on the tiniest motorized bike I have ever seen zip by down the road.<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">eggs florentine</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
We decided to order a pitcher of mimosas for Sunday brunch (so basic, I know), which was a great deal. It was $30 and I think we each refilled our glasses at least 3 times. Definitely worth the price, as they were good quality mimosas too (in the sense that they weren't watered down or anything). They had some appetizing brunch items on the menu, like red velvet donuts and a delicious sounding chocolate-infused french toast, but I am almost never in the mood for sweet brunch any more. I'm all about the savory. So I went with the eggs florentine. It was a good choice - the eggs were perfectly poached, the sauce was creamy without being too heavy, and the salmon tasted fresh and not too fishy. There was a lack of spinach for my liking though, I would have wanted a little bit more in the dish. But I'm a big fan of spinach so I may be biased. The side of home fries were nice and crispy. But I wouldn't say there was anything that set the meal above and beyond other brunch places. It was fulfilling, but not out-of-this-world. Plus, we got a side of fries that cost $5 and there weren't that many fries in the basket. A little disappointing.<br />
<br />
All in all, I think Bridget Foy's is a great place for a standard brunch. You'll get reliable food and the $30 mimosa pitcher is definitely worth it. Try and get a seat outside to enjoy the people watching, but maybe opt for a late spring or early fall day, unless you like sticking/sliding around your chair.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
South Garden is a popular Chinese place in this neck of the woods. I spoke with a good friend who lives north of Market who said he regularly orders from here. Sam and I went during lunch time so we took advantage of their lunch specials. I was craving a little grease so I ordered the general tso's chicken which came with pork fried rice. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid8UdN6XGRef1umF-FQeHtttw0j4vtPmMwWQq54BEZFts4UGSYRFJoRUriL1xIM-5n8h_O_7kh0xVQcwz_Wd7yxfU95Me0L4ZN8ug8ZKP6UJevamxtIUVOo6pgWtuxxE6EDGIyLgcYOcc/s1600/20160618_140107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid8UdN6XGRef1umF-FQeHtttw0j4vtPmMwWQq54BEZFts4UGSYRFJoRUriL1xIM-5n8h_O_7kh0xVQcwz_Wd7yxfU95Me0L4ZN8ug8ZKP6UJevamxtIUVOo6pgWtuxxE6EDGIyLgcYOcc/s320/20160618_140107.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The chicken was crispy, the sauce was tasty and the fried rice was deliciously salty. It definitely hit the spot. The lunch special comes with a soup, so I got the wonton soup.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQQcoaR3uzTj6Gl2iowCo9wsL4BV7Wy15XjGK8CzhgvvFq6ET7ulPwcoFKEorl7ThCiVwzUKFE8UghaYJ5e4fir9xYRAZk9aLAsSkVUzBdSc9iX8QzxfIR3bwEY3nP2A5SVhGYXx3ROME/s1600/20160618_140627.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQQcoaR3uzTj6Gl2iowCo9wsL4BV7Wy15XjGK8CzhgvvFq6ET7ulPwcoFKEorl7ThCiVwzUKFE8UghaYJ5e4fir9xYRAZk9aLAsSkVUzBdSc9iX8QzxfIR3bwEY3nP2A5SVhGYXx3ROME/s320/20160618_140627.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The soup hit the spot too with the wontons having nicely salted pork (I assume) in the filling and a soft exterior. My conclusion - this is a great take out Chinese place with generous portions. </div>
<br />

<br />
<span style="text-align: justify;">On another fine day we went to Tavern 222, a mysterious place that I had never stepped foot in before. The decor is fashionably low lit and and the daily specials are actually great deals. We went on a Tuesday where their domestic beers are half off and their chili-dogs are $4. No-brainer.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On the downside, the music was really loud and I found I had to speak relatively loudly to have a conversation. In summary, my bank account was extremely happy, between Sam and I our bill was $15. However, from an ambiance (I'm growing old) point of view, I don't think I'll be returning. </div>

<span style="text-align: justify;">I have nothing much to say about Rita's. I've always thought it was mediocre. I got the vanilla malt milkshake and it didn't change my mind. </span><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, this is our first TRIPLE THREAT post of the entire blog. No wonder it comes so close to the end, when the restaurants are piling up street after street. We are slowly but surely making our way to the end of the line, I promise...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEaqs5YW8h6wjK35QT2ouE9WvVch_aJcCvL3tKegFU7HIcVOv_2Fb-DKrTXjazSm_PLn5Z4FIfXsZAIOhr3j7m461k6XyMckHngs5hbASZ7_bnpSkxkgnnpjcBcwQEZ9I_1oCl-RR6-E4/s1600/IMG_5121.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEaqs5YW8h6wjK35QT2ouE9WvVch_aJcCvL3tKegFU7HIcVOv_2Fb-DKrTXjazSm_PLn5Z4FIfXsZAIOhr3j7m461k6XyMckHngs5hbASZ7_bnpSkxkgnnpjcBcwQEZ9I_1oCl-RR6-E4/s200/IMG_5121.JPG" width="200" /></a>First up is South Garden. Sandya and I decided to come here on a Saturday afternoon after a party the night before, thinking it'd be a good hangover cure. I didn't end up drinking all that much, so it was mostly just mediocre chinese food. We ordered in the restaurant but my guess is most of their business is take-out, since they forgot and put our meals in to-go containers. Which actually saved up a step, since we ended up having leftovers anyways. I ordered the lunch special, with wonton soup, chicken with cashew nuts, and pork fried rice. I liked the wonton soup, it was salty and the wontons were a good consistency. The chicken with cashew nuts and fried rice were meh. They didn't have much flavor. We did however see Atul, our friend from Lovash, as he stopped in to get something from the owners of South Garden. It's nice to know the neighboring restaurants are friendly with one another.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_1d9VmjRurcjaeXpPCMGCx52Ifl7a3QyCzChh562kgVCBhxkyXRtMzUaV1akGbf7Uq-xbmFpi8ZgYWEZ2TDlWRDCU0tzmk1iINi3RomUMd6RXCgMUwgioY_U85ZNHBuM1PCOzEuuIkgI/s1600/IMG_5118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_1d9VmjRurcjaeXpPCMGCx52Ifl7a3QyCzChh562kgVCBhxkyXRtMzUaV1akGbf7Uq-xbmFpi8ZgYWEZ2TDlWRDCU0tzmk1iINi3RomUMd6RXCgMUwgioY_U85ZNHBuM1PCOzEuuIkgI/s200/IMG_5118.JPG" width="150" /></a>Next, on a separate day, we visited Tavern 222 for dinner. The interior was dark, uncrowded, and loud. I could barely hear Sandya and she was sitting right next to me. I can understand this atmosphere on a weekend evening, but it was a weekday before 7 pm so it seemed a little strange. I was really in the mood for chicken fingers and BBQ sauce, and luckily for me they had these on the menu and in stock. The chicken fingers hit the spot, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. The french fries were okay - they were pretty crisp but lacked a good baseline flavor. We ordered lagers but forgot to specify on draft, so y'know, drinking lager from a bottle. All in all I probably wouldn't come back to Tavern 222, mostly based on the loudness of the music.<br />
<br class="Apple-interchange-newline" />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYK4ITou8hvoK9CIFuin42isoJZ_on3ZnJtbqqX45gtIdj0FUvvixLy5bWDC4rc6IGLSxN-uENUYvfWEToXAWhcUn1HS8Ou0rk3lFFpOaxIeQUqz-JPKBFDkhM2EZ-KcJreIeAwYpoN6Y/s1600/IMG_5119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYK4ITou8hvoK9CIFuin42isoJZ_on3ZnJtbqqX45gtIdj0FUvvixLy5bWDC4rc6IGLSxN-uENUYvfWEToXAWhcUn1HS8Ou0rk3lFFpOaxIeQUqz-JPKBFDkhM2EZ-KcJreIeAwYpoN6Y/s200/IMG_5119.JPG" width="200" /></a>Finally onto Rita's, which we combined with Tavern 222. It was a good day for it too, since it was a hot summer evening. I decided to go for the 4-flavor sampler, choosing blue raspberry, cherry, swedish fish, and lemon. When it comes to water ice, I'm all about the fruit flavors and less about the ice cream-like flavors. I almost always get gelati when I go to Rita's, but it was hot enough that water ice sounded delicious and I was pretty full from scarfing all those chicken fingers. I enjoyed the flavors, but they gave me waaay too much of each. I think I ate maybe half of the serving total, and most of it melted in the heat anyways. It made for a pretty combination of reds and blues, but for some reason I remember them serving a more reasonable amount of water ice. I have to point out that the swedish fish flavor totally tastes like swedish fish too, which is pretty great. Rita's is a great Philly staple that I'd recommend on a hot day, if you're in the mood for some water ice or a delicious custard + water ice combo (I highly recommend black cherry water ice with vanilla custard... <br />
mmmm....)<br />
<br />
So while this is a triple threat of reviews, the places themselves were either underwhelming or commonplace, so onto bigger and better things next time around let's hope!<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN8FQIGWIJhmY_Xpny-O4h2fnuCFAJa5QMTx4K43LbPbUGd9_tT2zsZvqYmj-GANGSDAf97szaCHiLfurux0gB27G6bZDUTPwBvwvd5weW5-lTwxVq22p7InGhDP0PeIxSku8yqTSDN7s/s1600/20160509_195726.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN8FQIGWIJhmY_Xpny-O4h2fnuCFAJa5QMTx4K43LbPbUGd9_tT2zsZvqYmj-GANGSDAf97szaCHiLfurux0gB27G6bZDUTPwBvwvd5weW5-lTwxVq22p7InGhDP0PeIxSku8yqTSDN7s/s320/20160509_195726.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have to admit that I am always skeptical about an Indian restaurant before trying it. Having grown up in India, I am a little more critical. However, I have definitely grown from being a person who used complain that a dish "doesn't taste like it would in India" to someone who can appreciate that, even if the dish doesn't taste "authentic", it still tastes good!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Lovash fits into that category for me, it doesn't taste exactly like what I would have in India, but the flavours are so good and the food so fresh, that it was a win all around.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would be remiss if I did not start by saying the folk at Lovash are extremely nice. I run into them occasionally on the street and I always get see them in happy healthy interactions with their staff and with their customers. Suffice to say, we were greeted with what seemed like a genuine warmth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After our party arrived, we started our meal with some beverages and appetizers. For appetizers we ordered the tandoori chicken samosas, shami kebab (lamb patties) and sheekh kebab (beef kebabs). For beverages we ordered some mango and salt lassis and chai.</div>

The appetizers were fantastic, very flavourful and now, come highly recommended. I thin kI liked the two kebabs over the samosa. This is also the first place where I actually liked the salt lassi.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For our main course, each of us ordered an entree and some naan to share. They have a south Indian flavours section that I was curious about. I ordered the Coondapur Chicken Curry from this section and I was not disappointed.</div>

The curry tasted freshly made, with tender chicken and the right amount of spice. The naan was a great accompaniment. Lovash also has a great "hot sauce" if you need to add more heat to your dish. The</div>

To conclude, I was pleasantly surprised by Lovash. They have great food, friendly service and so a great restaurant all around.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
On the list of "Sam's Most Frequented Food Carts While Toiling Away as a Grad Student," Lovash occupies the #1 spot by a wide margin. So needless to say, I was very excited to finally make it to their restaurant.</div>

Sandya arrived first and had a large table ready and waiting for when the rest of us arrived - we got a good group of people to join. I don't make it to the food truck any more, but one of our fellow dinner guests Kelly gets lunch from there quite a bit. Which became even more obvious when our waiter recognized her from earlier in the day - guess she forgot about our dinner plans! But we were finally able to put a name to the face that serves lunch at the cart almost every day - Atul. He must work pretty crazy hours, serving lunch at the cart and then waiting on tables for dinner. But it was nice to finally have a formal introduction, and we spent much of the dinner chatting with Atul and getting to know him a little better. Turns out when he lives in San Francisco he once helped Maya Angelou in his shop... pretty great encounter!<br />
<br />
The door to the restaurant is a little misleading, so it might take you a few extra seconds to get inside (like it did for me). It's a medium-sized restaurant with a few different rooms, several tables, and a small bar. While using the bathroom later in the evening, I did see that there's a party room on the second floor as well. The decor was pretty standard, although we did have a running fountain above our table that was a little leaky and soaked my jacket a bit... but it was hard to be too upset in the spirit of the evening.<br />
<br />

The restaurant, not surprisingly, has a much larger menu than the food cart. Tandoori chicken samosas and beef shish kebob, as well as some papadum on the house. I really enjoyed the samosas and while I didn't have any of the beef, I had some of the accompanying vegetables and they were also great - well seasoned and spicy (in the sense that they were well spiced). I love papadum - it's a thin crispy wafer made from lentils or other flour. These ones were pretty tasty - not the best I've had but definitely snackable. I think I ate the most out of anyone... sorry guys.<br />

Once Doug arrived, we decided to each order our own meal but share the love by passing our dishes around, minus Steph who is limited in what she can eat due to Celiacs. Luckily for her, they had a small South Indian menu that included <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dosa" target="_blank">dosas</a>. As I recently learned on our excursion to our friend Lee's wedding, Steph is a big fan of said dish, which I agree are totally delicious. Unluckily for Steph, they did not have any dosa batter made. Such is life. Not limited in my food choices, I went with butter chicken, one of the house specials. We had a spattering of all kinds of food - lamb chettinad, coondapur chicken curry, and mushroom vindaloo, just to name a few. We also ordered several breads - naan, garlic naan, and onion kulcha to go along with our meals. Service was swift and we were quickly eating our main meals. I ventured out on a limb and ordered my meal at the medium spicy level, which I think was a good choice. It was a bit hot, but it really brought the spices and flavors out. The creaminess of the sauce paired well with the tender chicken, and the accompanying bread was perfect for scooping up food. Most people agreed that Sandya's dish - the coondapur curry chicken - was the best, and while I thought hers tasted great, I liked mine just as much. I had also ordered a spiced Indian tea, and it was pleasant with its additional spices added, but not the best cup of tea I've ever had. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill though.<br />
<br />
By the end of our meals, we were completely full with no room for dessert, but we lingered a bit and chatted amongst ourselves and with Atul. It was a wonderful evening full of friends, great food and conversation. I'm happy to report that Lovash's restaurant is just as good as the food cart, and I'd definitely return in the future for another meal.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Green Basil is a new Thai BYOB that opened a few months ago. With Circles a block west and Tamarind a block east, Thai restaurants are becoming commonplace on this part of South street. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The staff at Green Basil are wonderful and very patient and helpful when it comes to choosing your dishes. Green Basil does have some dishes that are unique to them (as compared to Circles at least), particularly in the appetizers section.<br />
<br />
To start, we ordered the curry puffs, Thai sausage and papaya salad.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Papaya Salad</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The curry puffs were delicious, the more burnt parts of the thai sausage were fantastic. (That's more my weirdness with sausages. I think people who like sausages would like the non-burnt parts as well.) The papaya salad was decent. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For my main course, I decided to try one of the fancy whole fish dishes - the pla rad prik - described in the menu as "crispy tilapia with Thai sweet chilli sauce. Spicy."</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Turns out, I'm not the biggest fan of deep fried whole fish. The flavours were nice, but it just wasn't my jam. I did, however, get to taste the Massaman curry and that was fantastic! It managed to have a distinct flavour from Circle's massaman curry and I know Steph (who ordered it) liked it better than Circle's Massaman Curry. That is a huge compliment. Keeping that in mind, I definitely want to come back here and try things of the non-whole fish menu. I'm especially excited to try some of their noodles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
All in all it is a good place to have some beers and good Thai food and I clearly would like to go back. It doesn't hurt that it is around the corner from my house.</div>

Later that evening, before calling it a night, we moseyed over to Haagen Dazs for some ice cream. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I ordered the banana split because 1) I had never had it here before and 2) I like the idea of bananas and icecream (banana milkshakes are the best!). It was okay. It comes with strawberries too which I didn't like. Guess I'm a banana purist. The chocolate fudge though was pretty delightful. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Overall, I do like going here. Even though they don't have a banana milkshake on the menu, they are always very happy to make me one as they have all the ingredients. Also doesn't hurt that it is around the corner from my house and I am not a Rita's fan. I will say, finding out that Haagen Dazs is an American chain and not some fancy European chain, kind of blew my mind. I did not know that. </div>

We visited Green Basil on a warm spring Saturday evening. Sandya checked ahead of time to see if it is BYOB (it is), so we picked up lots of beer and headed over with our respective SOs in tow. Ari and I arrived first, and were able to get a table for 4, even though the restaurant is on the smaller side. Our waitress was very friendly, and as it turns out, may be stalking Sandya and Steph (but just so she can hang out with their dog Pavlov). In any case, they soon arrived and we spent a good deal of time chatting and catching up, but finally decided it was time to order food. We were all pretty hungry so we ordered a couple of appetizers in addition to our main dishes. I wanted to order a Thai iced tea, but because we were getting ice cream later and already had beer, I decided against it. But I kind of wish I had gotten it, because I do love Thai iced tea...</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
For appetizers, we ordered the papaya salad, curry puffs, and thai sausage. What is thai sausage you ask? An excellent question. It is basically pork sausage with thai seasonings - lemongrass, lime, soy sauce, etc. It was pretty crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, but almost a little too salty. Which was fine with me, but I don't think the rest of the table enjoyed it as much. I thought the papaya salad was refreshing, but it felt like it was missing something. It also had little mini dried shrimps in it, which is probably a normal way to prepare this dish, but not something I'm a fan of (because yeah, seafood is not really my bag, as I think we've all established at this point). I really liked the curry puffs, I thought the filling of chicken, potato and curry was delicious and flavorful, and the puff was fried and crispy. Spoiler alert: I thought the appetizers were the best part of the meal. But more on that later...</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
..Or now, because I'm onto the next paragraph. So, I had wanted to order the green curry friend rice with chicken, but when I asked the waitress, she said it was super spicy. After trying some of the spicier dishes that were ordered by others at the table, I think I probably could have handled it. But alas, my spice intolerance got the best of me, so I went for the pad thai instead. Someone had to order it, right? When I first tasted it, I found the sauce a little off-putting, but over time it grew on me. It was a little too sweet and did not have enough spice (of the flavor variety, not the heat variety). But, I was hungry, and it wasn't terrible or anything, so I ate most of it. I know that Ari and Sandya also weren't super impressed with their meals - they were decent, but not outstanding. Steph really enjoyed her massaman curry and I totally agreed on that front - it was rich and creamy and I liked it over my pad thai. If I remember correctly, this is a newer restaurant, so I think they have some room to try out and improve their recipes. The service was great, but I think there are better thai options in the near vicinity (like Circles, even if it's on the pricier side).</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ari departed, and we took a break to prepare our amazing wedding gift for Lee (of Tangier fame). After a few beers, our amazing art skillz came through and we had drawn what can only be described as a headless camel with a very buff rear leg. We decided it was time to reward our hard labor with some ice cream (and it was time for Pavlov to go for his nightly bathroom stroll). While Sandya went in and ordered, I kept watch of Pavlov while the drunken masses oohed and awwed at how adorable he is with his cute fluffy face and 3 legs (they're not wrong). I was still rather full from dinner, so I got a single scoop of caramel cone ice cream in a cone. It was good ice cream, a nice balance of pieces of cone and chocolate mixed in with vanilla ice cream and caramel swirls. Häagen-Dazs is one of the better "chain" places around, but nothing that blew me out of the water. What can I say? Even though I dislike seafood, I love the never ending supply of homemade ice cream on Cape Cod. It's hard to compete with that.</div>

I have had the pleasure of eating at Nora's before, but in a slightly different setting. The owners of this fine establishment started off with a food truck, which happened to be parked at 38th and Spruce, making it a convenient spot for lunch while I was still on campus. It was known to me as the Peruvian truck, and it has - slightly confusingly - a bunch of flames painted on it. But that did not stop me from trying it, and I'd almost always get the chicken and rice, with one (or more!) of their many delicious sauces - creamy chipotle, mole, teriyaki, the list goes on... So this time around, I was determined to order something different.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAR3KtNq4FPnSHdr5n3bxKI3AOmCn0tMn7Hexudopj5EcFLezrXQPx9tGBq5Yz_0BD2I_GgB37RR3e5VZ7zbGxgRjPS0tvSc_bzhZE-Q3ObzwHEGbFd3U2S153Ufl8RTdNtYx5-8nIgQ8/s1600/IMG_4883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAR3KtNq4FPnSHdr5n3bxKI3AOmCn0tMn7Hexudopj5EcFLezrXQPx9tGBq5Yz_0BD2I_GgB37RR3e5VZ7zbGxgRjPS0tvSc_bzhZE-Q3ObzwHEGbFd3U2S153Ufl8RTdNtYx5-8nIgQ8/s200/IMG_4883.JPG" width="200" /></a>We had a nice group of six people, and were able to find space in the front for all of us, which was great. Nora's is certainly a hole in the wall establishment in every sense of the word, which can either mean really great food or really terrible food. Luckily for us, it was the former. The restaurant is small, with some sparse decorations here and there and the grill right behind the register for everyone to see. The menu is also sparse, with just a few options - tacos, burrito (/bowls), or the infamous chicken over rice. They do seem to have specials that may potentially rotate, with enchiladas being on the board the day we were there. I went with a burrito bowl made up of zucchini, corn, and cheese (listed as calabacitas on the menu) served over rice with some shredded lettuce, with the creamy chipotle sauce because mmm it is delicious and creamy and adds a nice touch of flavor. I also ordered guacamole and chips for the table, because obviously.<br />

Minutes after ordering, our food was already arriving at the table. We were all pretty pleased about this. Well, Ari had to wait a little longer for his (the enchiladas with mole sauce - a very nice dish. Even though we are self-proclaimed "food bloggers," I can't say I know the qualities of what makes up a good mole sauce. But my guess is that this one probably fell pretty well on the better side of mediocre), which we all decided was due to the fact that his rice was arranged into a very neat pyramid on his plate. In my case, my food came out almost immediately but was still the perfect temperature. There was a big glob of melted cheese, which might turn some people off because it wasn't evenly distributed, but it was gooey enough to disperse around the food. And it was a damn nice touch to the burrito bowl. Not that adding melted cheese to a burrito bowl is anything out of the ordinary, but it was quality, salty, warm, gooey cheese. That's great in almost any situation. The vegetables were fresh, the rice was the perfect texture, and the serving size was spot on. Oh, and the guacamole was delicious too - it also tasted incredibly fresh and had a nice amount of citrus added in to give it some tangible zest. Nora's is definitely a great spot for quick, cheap, tasty food - both from their food cart and at their location on South Street.<br />

Let me tell you something about Dunkin' Donuts - if you are from Massachusetts, it is a holy place. Dunkin' Donuts (or as I like to call it - Dunky D's) originated in Massachusetts (Quincy to be exact), and you probably only need to drive a maximum of 5 minutes from any location in the state to reach one. My hometown does not permit fast food restaurants - yet there are at least 3 Dunkin Donuts. You get the idea. So I grew up with it. Other people may hate their food and coffee and all that jazz, but it's got that certain feel of home that I'll never be able to dissociate. Of course, not drinking coffee, I actually have no opinion on if their coffee is a go-to or not. Almost everyone I know from MA swears by it, so it's pretty biased. But unlike approximately 95% of the world, I could care less about coffee. So I'll just give you my opinion on the food.<br />
<br />
I've always liked the donuts at Dunkin'. Growing up, even though I'm a huge chocaholic, I'd always go for the strawberry frosted donut. I also really love their pumpkin cream cheese muffin (it's seasonal). For nostalgia's sake, I ordered the strawberry frosted, and it tasted just as a I remembered. Pretty sweet, a little artificial, and just like home.<br />
